We know how to make great coffee. In fact, we have our very own brands of high-buzz roasted beans. But it’s not just about the taste. We care about the journey from plant to cup and only serve unique, ethical blends.
We don’t just plonk a bag in a pot. We offer a delicious selection of loose-leaf teas from local supplier Pekoe Valley Tea, from herbal to Turkish nitro, so you can enjoy exciting tea experiences right down to the last sip.
We’re the only cafe in Newcastle and the Hunter with a selection of nitro-infused coffee and teas on tap. We also pour locally-made kombucha. Nitro gases infuse the beverages with a hint of natural sweetness.
Our breakfast and lunch menu is a feast for the senses. Not only does our in-house chef plate up to perfection, but every bite will leave you coming back for more. All of our ingredients are fresh, natural and ethically sourced.
We love welcoming families into our space and have a dedicated kids area so you can enjoy a brew and bite to eat in peace. We also give every Cassowary kid a free colouring pack and have special menu items just for them.
Don’t let your dog miss out! Pooches of all shapes and sizes are always welcome in our outdoor seating area. They’ll be wagging their tails at our speciality Puppychinos and biscuits from Gourmet Dog Barkery.

- Travel along The Parade onto Macquarie Street.
- Take the first Right onto Walter Street.
- Then Take the First Left onto High Street.
- Free Public Parking at the end of High Street.
Traveling South on Pacific HWY
- Turn left on Walter Street at the Gunyah Hotel.
- Then take the second Right onto High Street.
- 1 hour free parking available on the Pacific Hwy, opposite Cassowary Cafe @ 6oo pacific Hwy.

Nutella sandwich's, Short bread, packets of lollies and wraps for the adults. One days notice was no problems for Ron and his team.
Cassowary Caf provided Wraps Sandwich's and Fruit Skewers for our office meeting and training day. Skewers and Honey yoghurt were a real treat.
Ordered all gluten free wraps of chicken, falafels, ham and salads. Ron was very good with his customer service making sure that the wraps tasted good which it was! My guests loved the wraps. Ron was very kind to give extra treats for the kids for free. Totally recommend the Cafe.
